Today is "Estuaries Day"

Today is “Estuaries Day” so here’s a tidbit about our estuary - The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) visitor center and research labs in Eastpoint, one of only 25 sites designated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a research reserve, which monitors 246,766 acres in the Apalachicola Bay estuarine system. This is the most productive estuarine system in the northern hemisphere, with 1162 subspecies of vascular plants, 308 species of birds, 186 species of fish and 57 species of mammals
