Celebrate Bears in Carrabelle and Blues in Apalach this Weekend

Carrabelle's 3rd Annual Forgotten Coast Bear Festival kicks off this weekend in Sands Park from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The event will feature live music, crafts and of course, cool bear stuff. Free guided tours of the Apalachicola National Forest will be available. Come learn about bear habitat and behavior from bear biologists and experts. Nationally renowned bear biologist Adam Warwick will be onsite to talk with visitors. Warwick gained media attention in 2008 when he rescued a drugged black bear from the waters off Alligator Point. Apalachicola's riverfront will be alive with jazz and blues music this weekend as Grammy-nominee Slim Fats will perform downtown. The Oct 15 concert is part of a month-long series of benefit blues and jazz concerts. On October 22, six blues bands will perform as part of a Blues in the Park event and Oct. 28 will bring the King Cotton Blues Band to Apalachicola.
