Carrabelle History Museum Launches Tarpon Exhibit This Weekend
The Carrabelle Historical Society launches its newest exhibit “The Last Voyage of the S.S. Tarpon”, this month at the Carrabelle History Museum. There will be a reception on Sept. 3 from 7-9 p.m. that will include a discussion and gathering of crew descendants of the vessel that once plied area waters. The Carrabelle History Museum is located at 106 Avenue B, S.E. (behind the BP station. (850) 524-1153.
Also in Carrabelle, the Carrabelle Boat Club will host a Labor Day Cookout on Sept. 4 from 10-4 pm. there will be live music, free food and, weather permitting, free boat rides to Dog Island. Contact the Carrabelle Boat Club for details. (850) -697-5500.
This weekend features lots of fun in Eastpoint also. Join the community and share in the "We Love Eastpoint Day." - a community event to bring awareness to the unique culture and history of Eastpoint. Free for all with food, drink, local entertainment and PORTER WINFREE singing HWY. 98 as the headliner. Also in Eastpoint this weekend you can get your fill of barbeque at the Eastpoint Pork-a-thon to benefit the Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department. Pick up a cooked rack of ribs or butt on Saturday, Sept. 3 between Noon and 4 pm at the Eastpoint Fire Department.
